Artwork and Templates

What file types and versions do you accepts?

We accept .PSD, .AI, .EPS, .TIF, .JPG, .JPEG files. Adobe file types must be saved as CS6 or earlier. If your file is not in one of these formats, please email or give us a call and we will assist you.

What is the preferred resolution for my artwork?

We accept artwork in ALL formats and resolutions. If possible, Button Bros recommends that you send artwork at 300 DPI (dots per inch). For help determining your image quality, please call us or email us at

Does my artwork have to be in a template?

No, your artwork does not have to be in a template, but it is preferred. If it is not in a template, please upload your file during the check out process. Once we have received your order, our customer service reps will send you a digital mock up of your artwork created in our template for you to approve.

How do I convert my fonts to outlines?

Converting your fonts to outlines allows you send artwork files without having to send us the font file you have used. Here’s an easy example that shows you how to convert fonts to outlines in Adobe Illustrator.

Is there a limit to the number of designs I can place per order?

No, you can place an order using as many designs as you want. However, it is one design per quantity, i.e. if you want to order 100 buttons with two designs of 50 each then you would place two 50-button orders.

Can you guys design my button?

How do you achieve a true rich black print?

Many designers who are new to preparing artwork for CMYK often make the mistake of setting the CMY (cyan, magenta, yellow) values at 0%, and the K (black) value at 100%. This is not sufficient ink coverage to offer a true ‘Rich Black’. For a dark, rich black, you must include amounts of CMY to build up a base layer of pigment for the black to appear ‘true’. Otherwise, with 100K black only, you get a sort of dark gray, or ‘milky’ black values.

Setting type and thin detailed black

When setting small type in black on white, 100K black is preferred because the eye does not notice the lighter shade, and there are no other colors to present issues with slight registration misalignments.

Bold Graphics

That being said, with large areas of black, and bold graphics, you must use a rich black to ensure solid dark print. We recommend a standard rich black value of60/40/40/100. You will find other combinations suggested when searching rich black on the web, but almost anything more than 0/0/0/100 will provide better results than 100K.

What are your buttons made of?

High quality printed white paper, specially laminated, and pressed into steel button parts.

Button Bagging and Finishing

We can bag buttons in any quantity you would like, although in some cases extra charges maybe incurred. Also, we can offer finishing solutions, like adding rare earth magnets to buttons or fridge magnet backing to buttons.

What is the difference between fridge magnets and clothing magnets?

Fridge magnets are smooth black magnet stock, made for sticking to metal objects like refrigerators, desks, and lockets. Clothing magnets are an alternative to our pin-back buttons; these are high quality rare earth magnets that are used to hold your button to your clothing without having to use a pin, minimizing the damage to your clothing.

Turn Around & Shipping

What is the difference between turnaround time and shipping time?

Customers can sometimes get confused as to the difference between turn around time and shipping time and when to expect their order.

Turnaround Time is the time that it takes for us to create your product from the moment you submit your order. Our standard turnaround is 3-7 business days for most orders. This turnaround begins when you approve the proof we send you, after your order is placed.

Shipping Time is the time that it takes for UPS or Canada Post to take your custom products from US to YOU. This is the second way you can control the speed of receiving your order. Choose faster shipping to get your products even quicker.

What are 'Production Days'

Remember, we are open Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM EST, and we're closed on the weekends, so weekend orders are processed on the following Monday.

If your order is placed before 11AM EST, the first production day is that day. Orders placed AFTER 11AM EST will be processed on the following business day.

If you need something even faster than advertised, call us and we'll gladly listen to your needs and try to work something out!

Button Bros does not guarantee ship times. Delays by the mail carrier due to poor weather, accident, mis-routing, holidays, or weekends are a possibility. Button Bros offers these examples as a general rule but is not responsible for delays in production due to slow customer response, incorrect artwork, or other issues that may result in a production delay.

2nd day turnaround - 65% rush fee + shipping
3rd day turnaround - 50% rush fee + shipping
4th day turnaround - 30% rush fee + shipping
